What you will be doing

  • Assist Umicore in realizing its sustainability ambitions to go for zero carbon emissions in 2035.
  • Collect and Report China’s market Energy (incl. Renewable Electricity, Oxygen and Steam) news/trend/policy/regulation
  • Search and develop innovative sources for the procurement of low carbon energy sources.
  • Sourcing renewable electricity and conduct bidding/evaluation/negotiation and contracting accordingly.
  • follow-up on energy related projects from concept to realization, with reporting to management regularly.
  • Synergy Energy purchasing work with P&T Corporate and EHS team, and regular report
  • Establish local/regional (China and other countries at APAC) network as joint force for alignment and achieve ambitions;
  • Help local BU site to implement annual electricity and energy purchasing, as well leading medium/long term green energy PPA to achieve global strategy of Zero emission.
  • Build financial models and forecasts to evaluate strategic sourcing options and renewable energy investment opportunities.
  • Follow global category management strategy and involved with team for strategy alignment
  • Lead country/regional category sourcing for global Capex projects (industrial equipment supplier and service provider)
  • Search competitive supplier/service provider at China and other countries at APAC region,
  • Establish and maintain good relationship with external resources, involve commercial investigation, pre-qualification, study, as well bidding and contract negotiation (if any).
  • Take a strategic and long term view in identifying and developing innovative sources and contractual arrangements, and establish the targets in alignment with global Capex team and internal Clients
  • Participate in regular or irregular meeting/workshop/discussion to maintain global capex category work as regional representative
  • Work with project team for purchasing strategy development and implementation.
  • Execute the Added Value to help BU reduce capex density
  • Flexible to support other Category purchasing sourcing activity in China/APAC region if need (like as Chemicals and Lab..)
  • Organize knowledge distribution within Umicore with respect to upcoming policies and legislation

 

Who we are looking for

  • Functional Requirement
  • Bachelor / Master university degree in Chemical, Industrial and Electrical related
  • fluent in English. (Dutch or French optional).
  • Substantial professional experience in Energy and/or Chemicals category procurement in WOFE (> 10 years)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects, and project management skills
  • Frequent Travel is necessary (20%-30% / month)
  • Personal skills
